Making It About Race: A Discussion On Race & Privilege

Making It About Race: A Discussion On Race & Privilege

Date/Time

10/24/2017

Join the Manhattan Young Democrats, the New York State Young Democrats Caucus of Color and The City College of New York’s Urban Mentoring and Achievement Network as panelists and participants challenge themselves to engage in difficult discussions on the topics of race and privilege.

We wish to unpack what it means to be “woke,” especially in progressive, liberal spaces where bias and various forms of privilege can still block our understanding of each other. In addition to race-based privilege, the discussion will center bias and privilege in multiple forms—including, but not limited to: gender, sexuality, socioeconomic status, education, media & entertainment, and politics.

Aisha C. Moodie-Mills, President & CEO of Victory Fund & Institute
Yuh-Line Niou, NYS Assemblywoman
