Dan Barusch

Saratoga County Young Democrats President

Dan Barusch

Dan is the founder and President of Saratoga County Young Democrats, and has been the Director of Planning and Zoning for the Town of Lake George since August 2015 when he was hired at age 25, notably the youngest individual to ever serve in that municipal position in the State’s history. Dan’s experience as an Urban Planner has helped him to understand the urban/suburban landscape, the political climate, as well as the genuine desires of the local constituency. Dan also currently chairs the Lake George Go Green Committee and sits on the Climate Smart Task Force for the City of Saratoga Springs, allowing for his involvement and experienced oversight of responsible sustainable development in some of the most popular destinations in the State and in the northeast. He has been awarded numerous accolades in his career, and has three college degrees, the highest of which is a Masters in Urban and Environmental Planning from Arizona State University.

Dan has been a lifelong Democrat, concentrated on many issues that are important to not only Democrats, but Independents, Liberals, and Green Party members as well. His main goal in life to help people succeed and to help represent their beliefs and values. Some of the main reasons Dan entered politics are his passion to serve the public, his understanding of government and the political landscape, and the revolution started by Senator Bernie Sanders and political youth across the country in the 2016 election. Dan hopes to one day run for office to initiate better political coordination in New York State and with all constituents, to help educate people more on the governmental process and to be a part of passing effective, progressive policy that positively affects all involved.
